Accommodation

If you are visiting Melbourne, there are many great places to stay within walking distance of the University of Melbourne. From serviced apartments to all types of AirBnB’s and backpackers, there’s something to suit everyone.

Please note, the first week in November is a particularly busy time in Melbourne. The Melbourne Cup Carnival is a highlight of the Melbourne spring and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The Melbourne Cup is run on the first Tuesday of November (that’s the 5th of November, 2019) and this day is a public holiday in Melbourne. We recommend you start to book your accommodation now, before it’s all gone!

Suburbs that are within walking distance of campus include (see map to help you navigate):

  • Carlton and Carlton North

  • Parkville

  • Fitzroy

The University of Melbourne is also serviced by excellent public transport and is only a 15-20 minute tram (or bike!) ride from:

  • Melbourne CBD (catch any tram up Swanston street, or the number 19 tram from Elizabeth st)

  • Brunswick and Brunswick East (Trams 1, 6 and 19)

  • Coburg (Tram 1, 6 and 19)

  • North Melbourne (walking distance, and smart buses run frequently from North Melbourne station).
